A Walk With Psychogeography in Lille.

Studying the course notes on genres, I was fascinated by the section on Psychogeography.  Wikipedia tells us that noted psychogeographers include Will Self and Robert Macfarlane.  I bought a copy pf Will Sel;f's book and found it entertaining and I have already much of Robert Macfarlane's work.  A nature writer as well as psychogeographer, Macfarlane collects objets trouvee on his walks and takes them home.  His house, like ours is full of these objects.  I am, in fact, basing some of my body of work for Assignment 1 on his books The Wild Places and The Old Ways which also links with work I did for Assignment 3 in PWDP.  (See my PWPD blog for this.)
Having a short visit to Lille in northern France planned, I bought a travel guide which included a suggested walking tour.  Fortunately this began at the Gare Lille Europe, where the eurostar train arrives, and passes close by our hotel.  I decided to follow this walk to get to the hotel rather than use a taxi and at each point mentioned in the guide take a photograph.  The images and are below, the captions are quotes from the guide book.

Arriving at Gare Lille Europe

At the Place de la Gare, bear right along rue Faidherbe..
...towards the place du Theatre, the belfry and the opera house.
Step inside the Vielle Bourse.....

The new rose window by Kijno produces a powerful effect.
The Hotel Covent des Minimes.........
....is in an old 17th-century convent........
........with restaurant and bar in the old cloisters.
Opposite you, across the pont de la Citadelle, is the Bois de Boulogne, a perfect place to relax with a picnic.
